Japanese Language 「Particles」 「Part 5」 「GA・が」 「Part 3」 「5」 Ga・が、is used with interrogative questions A: used in general questions Examples: どの人が課長ですか。 Dono hito gaKachō desu ka. Which one [person] is the section chief? だれが一番早くきましたか。 Dare ga ichiban hayaku kimashita ka. Who came [arrived] first? Note: Wa can replace ga if the topic is being presented. Example: 課長はどの人ですか。 Kachō wa dono hito desu ka. The section chief-which one [person] is he?・Which one is the section chief? B: when asking for a choice Examples: すしとてんぷらとどちらが好きですか。 Sushi to tenpura to dochira ga suki desu ka. Which do you like better, sushi or tempura? 中国語と日本語と、どちらがむずかしいですか。 Chūgoku-go to nihon-go to, dochira ga muzukashi desu ka. Which is more difficult, Chinese or Japanese? 「6」 Ga・が is used to indicate the subject of a relative clause Examples: 先週私が見た映画はつまらんかった。 Senshū watashi ga mita eiga wa tsumaranakatta. The movie I saw last week was boring. 一週間でわたしが読む本は四冊です。 Isshūkan de watashi ga yomu hon wa yonsatsu desu. I read four books a week [in a week].
