Japanese Language 「Verbs」 「Vdic + Yō ni iu ように言う」 ”Tell someone to do~" The vdic of yō ni iu is used to express an indirect command. The verb iu may be replaced by other verbs such as tanomu 頼む (ask) or susumeru 勧める (recommend) to express requests or suggestions. Examples: 学生に壁にポスターを張るように言う。 Gakusei ni kabe ni posutā o haru yō ni iu. I'll tell the students to put posters on the wall. 戸田さんに会議の時間を確かめるように頼みます。 Toda-san ni kaigi no jikan o tashikameru yō ni tanomimasu. I'll ask Miss Toda to confirm the meeting time. ブラウンさんに京都でお寺を訪問するように勧めました。 Buraun-san ni Kyōto de o-tera o hōmon suru yō ni susumemashita. I recommend to Mr Brown that he visit temples in Kyoto. Hope this helps! じゃまたね! °˖ ✧◝(○ ヮ ○)◜✧˖ ° こゆうきあいはら °˖ ✧◝(○ ヮ ○)◜✧˖ °
