Japanese Language 「Verbs」 「Vdic + kashira/kana・かしら/かな」 ”I wonder” Vdic kashira/kana expresses uncertainty. Kashira is mostly used by women, while kana is principally used by men. Examples: 病人は助かるかしら/かな。 Byōnin wa tasukeru kashira/kara. I wonder if the patient will be saved. 彼はクリスマスプレゼントに何をくれるかしら/から。 Kare wa kurisumasu purezento ni nani o kureru kashira/kana. I wonder what he will give me for a Christmas present. トムは試験に合格するかしら/かな。 Tomu wa shiken ni gōkaku suru kashira/kana. I wonder if Tom will pass the examination.
