Japanese Language 「Verbs」 「Vdic+made ni・までに」 ”By the time," "Before." Vdic made ni is used to express a temporal limit for an action. It may be replaced by mae ni. Examples: 日が沈むまでに目的地に着きたい。 Hi ga shizumu made ni mokutekichi ni tsukitai. We want to reach our destination before the sun sets. 彼が旅行に出かけるまでにもう一度会いたいです。 Kare ga ryokō ni dekakeru made ni mō ichido aitai desu. I want to see him once more before he leaves for his trip. 飛行機が到着するまでに二時間ある。 Hikōki ga tōchaku suru made ni nijikan aru. It will be two hours before the airplane arrives.
