Japanese Language 「Sentence Structure」 The particle to lists two or more items exhaustively, whereas the particle yo lists two or more items non-exhaustively, implying the existence of others. 「A」切手と封筒がある/あります。 Kitte to fūtō ga aru/ arimasu. There are stamps and envelopes. 「B」カメラマンやレポーターがいる/います。 Kameraman ya repōtā ga iru/ imasu. There are cameramen and reporters (and others). Examples: 赤いセーターと茶色のハンドバッグがあります。 Akai sētā to chairo no handobaggu ga arimasu. There is a red sweater and a brown handbag. 桜の木や松の木があった。 Sakura no ki ya matsu no ki ga atta. There were cherry trees and pine trees and others. 1年生と2年生がいます。 Ichi-nensei to ni-nensei ga imasu. There are first and second-year students. セールスマンやバイヤーがいた。 Sērusuman ya baiyā ga ita.
