Japanese Language 「Verbs」 「Vdic+hō ga ~ yori ほうが~より」 "Do ~ than do~" Vdic+hō ga ~ yori is used to express a comparison between two actions. Hō is a pseudo noun. Examples: 勝つほうが負けるよりいい。 Katsu hō ga makeru yori ii. Winning is better than losing. 車はここに止めるよりあそこに止めるほうが安全です。 Kuruma wa koko ni tomeru yori asoko ni tomeru hō ga anzendesu. It is safer to park the car here, than (park) over there. 自分で料理するほうが外食するより楽しいです。 Jibun de ryōri suru hō ga gaishoku suru yori tanoshīdesu. It is more enjoyable to cook myself than to dine out.
