Japanese Language 「Sentence Structure」 The negative form of a verb, followed by the particle de and kudasai, expresses a negative request or command ("please don't...") directed at a social equal or subordinate. Examples: 電車の中で携帯電話を使わないでください。 Dernsha no naka de keitai denwa o tsukawanai de kudasai. Please don't use your cell phones on the train. 寒いから窓を開けないでください。 Samui kara mado o akenai de kudasai. It's cold, so please don't open the window. この書類はまだ捨てないでください。 Kono shorui wa mada sutenai de kudasai. Please don't throw away the papers yet.
